Puberty can be a challenging time, physically and emotionally.

Pupils begin to learn about it before onset so that they’re ready for big changes they and their peers will experience.

Puberty also forms a key part of statutory Health Education within the PSHE education curriculum. Schools need to support children and young people through other major life changes too, including transition to secondary school.

Use our Programme of Study and Programme Builders to plan, sequence and teach about growing and changing within your PSHE curriculum. Relevant lessons include our mental health lesson plans on school transition and puberty lessons included in the quality assured Medway RSE scheme of work.
