Why PSHE education matters

Education that prepares young people for life today, and tomorrow.

PSHE education isn’t just another school subject. It’s a chance to give every child and young person an equal opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge they need to thrive now and in the future.

From making informed decisions about alcohol to succeeding in their first job, when taught well (in line with our best practice principles) PSHE education helps prepare pupils for all of life's opportunities, challenges, life decisions and responsibilities  — so they can navigate a world full of uncertainty with hope.

And since better health and wellbeing leads to better outcomes in a range of contexts — including physical health, emotional wellbeing, media and digital literacy, academic achievement and preparation for work — it’s no wonder that PSHE education is so popular with pupils, parents and schools.
