We are the official body for PSHE education

A membership association and charity, we support over 50,000 teachers and schools to teach high quality personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education, including all statutory RSHE content.

Our mission is to create a society in which every child is equipped with the tools they need to meet life’s challenges and make the most of life’s opportunities.

What we do

PSHE education is the school curriculum subject dedicated to supporting children’s physical and mental health, relationships, careers and economic wellbeing. When taught well it’s proven to have a big impact on life outcomes.

That's where we come in, as we work towards ensuring that every school and teacher provides a high quality PSHE education for every child.

To enable this, we offer guidance, training, curriculum models, lesson plans and advice to our national network of 50,000 teachers and schools. We’re also responsible for maintaining the national PSHE education Programme of Study since 2014 and our research function allows us to explore new and emerging issues (from deepfakes to online misogyny) and come up with practical solutions for our members.

These members are at the heart of everything we do – and we pride ourselves in offering the best available PSHE and RSHE support to this growing community (find out more about membership). And all of our guidance, training and support is created by our Subject Specialist team – the leading national PSHE/RSHE experts.

This also helps our mission to raise the status, quality and impact of PSHE education so that all children and young people benefit, alongside our work at a national policy level which helped to secure statutory status for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE).

  • The PSHE Association (formally the PSHE Subject Association) was founded in 2006 and is a company limited by guarantee and a membership organisation.
