We are deeply saddened to hear about the recent passing of former PSHE Association colleague Dr John Lloyd, and extend our sympathies to his family and friends at this difficult time.

John was instrumental in his role as Policy Adviser during our formative years, bringing experience and expertise that ensured our work was grounded in academic rigour and helping to develop us into a thriving membership association. This was, however, just one part of a long and varied career dedicated to children and young people’s broader education, health, and wellbeing.

This included working as a PSHE education and Citizenship advisor with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (now the Department for Education) and as a member of the PSHE Advisory Group and Citizenship Working Party contributing to the development of both the initial PSHE framework and statutory Citizenship curriculum in England. John also contributed to the QCA Citizenship Schemes of work and the revised 2007 Citizenship and PSHE National Curriculum programmes of study. He was an accomplished author and member of various boards and committees dedicated to promoting education and health, working nationally and internationally to support children and young people’s wellbeing.

He will be greatly missed by family, friends, former colleagues here at the Association and anyone who had the pleasure of working with him during his impressive career.
