Inclusion, belonging & addressing extremism — new lesson packs for KS1-4

We have delivered training and produced resources in recent years to support the ‘Building a Stronger Britain Together’ (BSBT) Home Office initiative on challenging extremism and radicalisation. An independent Ipsos MORI evaluation found that this work “led to significantly increased levels of confidence and improved skills in covering extremism-related topics” and that a key contributory factor to this was use of Quality-Assured resource materials to complement training.

We are therefore delighted to highlight a range of free-to-download lesson materials that we have produced or quality assured for primary and secondary phases as part of this project. These resources will support you to embed learning on inclusion and extremism within your broader PSHE education curriculum.

Inclusion, belonging and addressing extremism – KS1/2 lesson pack

We recently released a set of four primary lesson plans that focus on recognising similarities and differences, belonging to a community, and stereotyping. The pack includes a teacher guidance document and each lesson plan is accompanied by a classroom ready PowerPoint and relevant resources.

Inclusion, belonging and addressing extremism – KS4 lesson pack

We have also updated Key stage 4 lesson plans that focus directly on extremism and radicalisation. The resources promote inclusion and a sense of belonging by providing a safe environment for debating emotive issues. The lessons develop students’ ability to analyse media and social media content, and promote empathy and respect for others.
