About the course

PSHE education can make a meaningful difference to supporting and improving children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

In this course, we’ll explore a variety of mental health and wellbeing-related concepts, trends and factors, ensuring that you gain a sound understanding of the research and subject knowledge underpinning the Foundations for Wellbeing curriculum.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognise trends in children and young people's mental health and wellbeing and factors that impact their mental health.
  • Describe the role of PSHE education in supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
  • Explore the research and neuroscience informing the Foundations for Wellbeing curriculum.
  • Explain the relevance of self-regulation to mental health and wellbeing and describe a range of self-regulation strategies.
