With just under nine months to go until schools need to implement the updated RSHE requirements (September 2026), here’s an update on our latest and upcoming support to help you prepare for these changes.

Check out our statutory RSHE page for updates on the full range of support that’s currently available.

And read or listen to Jono's roundup of last half-term for information on recent and upcoming lesson plans, policy announcements, and events.

Pupil and teacher questionnaires

  • How engaged do your pupils feel in their PSHE education lessons?
  • Do they see their own progress?
  • What do they enjoy?
  • What do they think could be improved?
  • Do they feel the content is appropriate to the challenges they face?

Our updated pupil questionnaires will give you the framework to ask these questions and engage meaningfully with pupils to ensure your curriculum is relevant and engaging — in line with guiding principle (15a) of the DfE's updated RSHE statutory guidance: ‘An inclusive and well-sequenced RSHE curriculum should be informed by meaningful engagement with pupils to ensure that the curriculum is relevant and engaging.'

The answers will help you to make improvements and tailor support to your pupils’ needs, and we've included further ideas for exploring pupils' views in the classroom.

Of course, to lead the subject effectively you also need to understand your colleagues’ levels of confidence, subject knowledge, and enthusiasm for teaching PSHE education.

Our updated teacher questionnaires for primary and secondary are easily adaptable to suit your school context and department needs.

The results will help you to offer meaningful support and meet teachers' professional development needs while helping to address questions or concerns that they may raise.

Working with visitors [Updated guidance + new 'Top tips' video]

The new statutory RSHE guidance emphasises the value of working with external visitors and organisations, but also the challenges of doing so — making it clear that schools hold the responsibility for selecting visitors, checking their expertise and materials, and ensuring that sessions are relevant and appropriate.

Our updated teacher guide will help both the school and the visitor plan for a high-quality and safe session that embeds learning in the wider curriculum while avoiding common pitfalls — e.g. causing shock, fear and shame; or inadvertently glamourising, inspiring or instructing in harmful behaviours.

We’ve also added a new Top tips video on working visitors to our on-demand training library, available exclusively to School Plus members.

New Programme of Study & model programmes [Later this term]

A reminder that our new Programme of Study will be published later this term, along with updated, improved and simplified curriculum models that will help you design the perfect PSHE education programme for your school, incorporating all statutory RSHE content and wider PSHE topics.
