PSHE education lesson observation feedback prompts

Are there clear, precise, learning objectives and learning outcomes?

Has a safe learning environment been created?

Has the teacher communicated high expectations, enthusiasm and passion for PSHE education?

Our lesson observation feedback prompts document brings together the key features of an effective PSHE lesson in one place — so you have all the information you need to hand when observing PSHE education lessons.

You can use this alongside our checklist for reviewing PSHE education lesson plans, and your school or training provider's generic lesson observation template.

Carrying out a PSHE 'learning walk'

Learning walks can help provide an overview of PSHE education in your school, enabling you to identify best practice, areas of strength, and areas for development to share with colleagues.

They can also be used to determine if agreed subject developments are in place. Learning walks can include aspects such as the learning environment through to elements of teaching and learning.

Our template and accompanying guidance will enhance your understanding of how and why to carry out a learning walk, and help capture your feedback.
