What to expect

We provide training and training packages for multiple schools within the same group, such as PSHE hubs or networks, academies, federations, or Local Authorities. 

These can be one-off sessions, or can run across consecutive school terms within the academic year, and create a great opportunity for PSHE leads and teachers to network. 

All PSHE Association training sessions are facilitated by one of our Subject Specialists, the leading national specialists in PSHE education. 

We offer a range of three-hour face-to-face CPD and 60-90 minute online CPD sessions. Read the full descriptions of each available option below. 

Three-hour CPD
  • This foundation course covers the essentials of PSHE education, an in-depth exploration of principles of best practice in the classroom, and planning, adapting, and delivering high-quality and engaging lessons.


    Delegates will: 
    •    Explore what to cover in PSHE education (including RSHE)
    •    Review the principles of best practice for effective teaching and learning in PSHE education
    •    Receive guidance on planning, adapting and delivering high-quality, engaging PSHE education lessons

  • Want to get up to speed with the statutory requirements for primary Relationships Education and Health Education? This face-to-face course will explore practical ideas and classroom strategies for planning, teaching and assessing high-quality, inclusive Relationships and Health Education. You will consider the interrelationship between the statutory content and broader PSHE education, whilst building confidence in policy writing and parental engagement.

    Cross-phase option available

  • Want to get up to speed with the statutory requirements for secondary RSE and Health Education? This face-to-face course will explore practical ideas and classroom strategies for planning, teaching and assessing high-quality, inclusive RSE and Health Education. You will consider the interrelationship between RSHE and broader PSHE education, whilst building confidence in policy writing and parental engagement.

  • Having a well-structured, sequenced curriculum is essential for PSHE education. This face-to-face course will introduce the PSHE Association tools for PSHE planning and support you to build a curriculum, bespoke to the needs of your school. Explore the effectiveness of different delivery models, and top tips for long, medium and short-term planning.

  • Ofsted’s review into sexual harassment in schools highlighted the need for a high-quality, planned and sequenced curriculum. This session will explore how to teach statutory relationships education and RSE safely and effectively across the key stages. You will consider how PSHE supports a whole school approach to addressing sexual harassment and how best to evidence the school’s response.

  • With the developing cost of living crisis, empowering young people with education about economic wellbeing has never been so vital. In this session, you will explore your PSHE curriculum, can support pupils to manage money, make informed and confident economic choices, and protect themselves from online financial harms.

  • Ofsted’s review into sexual harassment in schools highlighted the need for a high quality, planned and sequenced curriculum. This session will explore how teaching the statutory content for Relationships Education at primary school can help to lay the foundations to address sexual harassment as pupils grow. You will develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to teach the content safely, effectively and confidently.

  • This session will help you to understand the requirements and expectations for assessment in PSHE, explore ways to measure pupil progress meaningfully, and demonstrate the impact of the PSHE curriculum in your school.

  • Informed by our work with academic experts, this session will explore what makes effective, age-appropriate learning for secondary students. With a focus on current trends, such as the increase in vaping, you will be equipped to tackle drug and alcohol-related issues through the curriculum and as part of a whole-school approach.

  • This session will introduce PSHE leads and teachers to the unique contribution PSHE education makes to the school's evidence for the Personal Development judgement, and how best to gather, present and communicate evidence of pupils’ learning and progress.

  • This session is designed to support PSHE leads or teachers in sixth form or post-16 settings.  You will explore how to plan and develop an age-appropriate curriculum that meets your students’ needs as they prepare for adulthood. 

  • Ideal for new PSHE teachers and leads, this session will help you to design engaging and effective PSHE lessons that are well-sequenced, well-structured, and that meet the needs of pupils in your school. 

    Primary, secondary and cross-phase option available

  • This session will explore the statutory requirements related to teaching puberty and how to make decisions about age appropriate content. It will also support you to develop strategies for managing tricky questions, and build confidence in teaching about puberty across your team. 

  • This session will explore young people's experiences of growing up in a digital world and the online harms they may be exposed to, including dealing with pressures and influences. PSHE education is a key tool through which schools can tackle online harms for children and young people. We’ll share current research, lesson ideas, and activities to equip pupils with the tools they need to navigate their lives online, and support schools to embed this topic effectively within the PSHE curriculum.

  • This session will build your confidence in teaching about statutory mental health and emotional wellbeing effectively. You will explore the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to safely teach this crucial but challenging part of PSHE, and the role it plays in safeguarding pupils.

Training for school governors
  • Ideal for local authorities to book for a group of governors. This session is ideal for governors who are responsible for RSHE/PSHE education. It considers both the statutory and non-statutory elements of PSHE education and supports governors to understand how their role can influence PSHE education in partnership with the PSHE lead in their school.

    We explore practical ways that PSHE governors can make a difference to their schools as well as signposting tools to help you.
