SIAN is a national network of schools supporting innovative research through PSHE education.

This research network provides unprecedented insight into children and young people’s experiences, and the challenges they face. This will inform educational responses, shape research priorities, influence national policy and help to make the world a safer, healthier and happier place to grow up in.

As the official body and subject association for personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education, we lead on ensuring that the subject keeps pace with the increasingly complex challenges and opportunities faced by children and young people — from AI deepfakes to online misogyny.

And by continuing to grow our research capacity, we can help ensure PSHE education is evidence-based, safe and preventative — supporting positive outcomes for children, young people and society.

  • As part of a national network of schools, you will have the opportunity to help us make sense of the rapidly changing world that children and young people are growing up in and identify potential solutions to pressing and emerging challenges. 

    You and your pupils will have the opportunity to be part of groundbreaking research studies, opting in to studies which fit your priorities and timetable.

  • We offer a range of support on guiding, designing or conducting research with our Schools Insights and Action Network, for both individual researchers and organisations.

Our research experience

The PSHE Association has supported distinguished academics and multi-award-winning research agencies to conduct research into a variety of topics, resulting in a range of publications, including guidance, reports and peer-reviewed journal articles.
