Online narratives & community cohesion SEC

Session description

Young people are increasingly exposed to divisive online narratives, and these attitudes can filter into school corridors and classrooms, posing a threat to community cohesion. This course will help you identify harmful online narratives, how to manage conflict in school and how to counter division through your PSHE curriculum.

Led by one of our Subject Specialists — the leading national experts in PSHE/RSHE — with slides and accompanying resources shared following the session.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify and understand harmful online narratives, including their sources and how they reach and influence children and young people
  • Understand how to unpack and challenge such narratives with your pupils
  • Learn to counter harmful narratives and division through your PSHE education curriculum (including guidance and resources to support you in this)
  •  Get practical advice on managing conflict in your school that’s linked to problematic online narratives.
