Clarity on what resources we endorse

We have seen various providers and publishers say they are aligned with us and/or our guidelines, so we wanted to provide clarity for schools on what lesson plans/resources we support or endorse.

The only lesson plans/resources we endorse are those that are currently listed on our website, and consist of:

  • those we have produced ourselves
  • those we have produced in partnership with, or on behalf of, others
  • those by other providers/publishers that have applied for, and achieved, our Quality Mark after passing our rigorous quality assurance processes.

While publishers of other resources, schemes or programmes might say they ‘align’ with us, or ‘follow our guidance’, this does not constitute endorsement or approval on our part unless their resource is also featured on our site.

For example, many organisations say that their resources or programmes follow or adhere to our Programme of Study for PSHE education. Depending on phrasing, this can wrongly imply — either intentionally or unintentionally — that we have been involved in their production or offered some kind of approval.

If unsure, we suggest members search on our site for the resource or contact the publisher directly to enquire if their resource currently holds a PSHE Association Quality Mark.

For publishers of any resources we’ve not reviewed, we kindly request that any references to us are clear on our lack of endorsement or involvement. For example, saying your resource ‘follows the structure of the PSHE Association Programme of Study’ would be acceptable; whereas saying something like it ‘aligns fully with the PSHE Association’ or ‘is fully mapped to the PSHE education Programme of Study’ or ‘adheres to PSHE Association guidance’ falsely implies that we have endorsed it.

If unsure, please check with us — as we realise in most cases this will be an honest mistake. If you are interested in PSHE Association endorsement and promotion of your resource(s) then we encourage you to read more about our Quality Mark criteria and application process.
