This pack is designed to support teachers to plan engaging and meaningful PSHE education activities for pupils with SEND, especially those with complex and multiple needs, including sensory sensitivities.

The suggested activities engage the senses in a range of different ways and encourage experimentation with the different senses.

These activities are intended for pupils who may be working on a pre-formal or semi-formal curriculum. As such, they are not designed to be delivered as whole lessons, but as learning experiences which may benefit pupils across different themes within PSHE education. None require writing or reading, although some suggest pupils may be able to recognise word labels or communicate verbally.

The activities in this pack are based around our SEND Framework’s six themes and designed for pupils who are likely to be working at the Encountering, Foundation and sometimes Core stages.
