This course will help teachers strengthen community cohesion and promote respect, inclusion and belonging across the school through their PSHE curriculum. It will also support pupils to navigate the challenges of online communities by promoting positive, respectful relationships and addressing discriminatory attitudes and behaviours.

Course description

Children and young people are increasingly exposed to divisive but persuasive online narratives, and these attitudes can spill into playgrounds, corridors and classrooms, threatening community cohesion. This new cross-phase course will help you identify harmful online narratives, how to manage conflict in school and how to counter division through your PSHE curriculum, including statutory RSHE. You will also receive guidance and practical strategies that can be applied immediately to support pupils across primary and secondary phases and strengthen your school culture.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify and understand harmful online narratives, including their sources and how they reach and influence children and young people
  • Understand how to unpack and challenge such narratives with your pupils
  • Learn to counter harmful narratives and division through your PSHE education curriculum (including guidance and resources to support you in this)
  •  Get practical advice on managing conflict in your school that’s linked to problematic online narratives. 

You will come away with:

  • Three hours of high quality, interactive training led by members of our Subject Specialist team, the leading national experts in PSHE education
  • Recommended post-course reading to follow up after the session
  • A wealth of useful ideas, resources and materials to prepare you for delivering PSHE education safely and effectively

Payment method: All places are booked per person and all delegates attending will be charged accordingly. We encourage payment by card, however if this is not possible an invoice can be requested when booking. Invoices may also be sent for late bookings.
