We're delighted to announce that Laura Bates will speak at the PSHE Association Spring online Conference on 23 March (9.30am - 1pm).

Founder of the Everyday Sexism Project, Laura works closely with politicians, police forces, businesses, schools and organisations from the United Nations to the Council of Europe to tackle sexism and sexual violence.

Laura is a best-selling author of books including 'Everyday Sexism', 'Men Who Hate Women' and 'Fix the System Not the Women' and writes regularly for the national press.

Her recent Financial Times article – ‘Stopping misogyny shouldn’t be just about Andrew Tate’ – stressed the importance of tackling underlying issues and contributory factors regarding misogyny and toxic masculinity, not just high profile influencers like Tate that peddle such views. This chimes with our own recent guidance on addressing misogyny and toxic masculinity, so we really look forward to hearing from Laura, including her views on the importance of PSHE education and the work you all do to keep children and young people safe.

Our practical workshops will also include a session on addressing misogyny, toxic masculinity and social media influence through PSHE education as well as many others covering everything from vaping to Ofsted, and protected characteristics to financial literacy. Other keynotes include DCC Maggie Blythe, national VAWG Co-ordinator for the National Police Chiefs Council, whose contribution will complement a strong safeguarding theme for the day.
