Accurately assess the effectiveness of your current PSHE education provision, and identify, plan and take your next steps to develop PSHE education (including statutory RSHE) in your school.
The subject review framework is divided into three sections:
Leadership, management and organisation
The PSHE education curriculum
Teaching and learning in PSHE education
Each section includes prompt questions, with descriptors for three different stages. The descriptors for the three stages of development aim to capture an overall sense of where you are as a school but may not be a perfect match for every school.
We recommend taking a ‘best fit’ approach, selecting the descriptor in each row that best matches the current situation in your school.
Once you have completed your school’s review for the three sections you will have an accurate overview of your school’s current provision, including areas of strength and those where you need to develop.
Using this information, prioritise your areas for development and record measurable goals in the subject development plan template, alongside the actions that will be taken to achieve these goals, by whom and by when.
