Before teachers around the country head on a well deserved break for the summer, here’s a reminder of just some of the things we’ve done this year — and plan to do next year — with the help of our amazing members.
Launched new resources and guidance
- READY FOR AUTUMN! Thriving in post-16 education KS5 lesson pack. Designed to be delivered in the autumn term to students who have recently started key stage 5 / post-16 education, this lesson pack focuses on the potential challenges of this transition and research-led strategies to manage these.
- Embracing change and new challenges KS1-2 lesson pack. For pupils in year 2 (who will be moving to year 3) and pupils in year 6 (who will be moving to year 7). Help pupils identify feelings, opportunities and challenges related to this transition, and support them with positive strategies for managing changes from one key stage to another.
- Vaping year 9 lesson pack. Designed to follow on from the Year 9 lessons in our existing suite of drug and alcohol education lessons, this lesson will help students: understand the impact of influences, influencers and marketing on vaping-related choices and behaviours; explain the consequences of vaping, including the environmental cost; and, analyse ways to challenge influences and misconceptions about vaping.
- Road and rail safety KS1-2 lesson pack. Support pupils to understand how to keep themselves safe around roads and railways. Pupils explore potential hazards, identify risks and develop the skills to make safe decisions while travelling and as they develop independence.
We also awarded our Quality Mark to numerous other resources so that you have trustworthy materials to hand when using our Programme Builders to plan and sequence your PSHE lessons for next term/year.

Trained more teachers than ever before
As well as running our usual core programme of popular online and in-person CPD, this year also saw the introduction of new courses on tackling online harms, building economic wellbeing, and addressing sexual harassment. More than 700 of you joined us at our spring online conference to attend practical workshops and hear from Laura Bates and other high-profile speakers.

Built our regional and ITE support
We’ve worked with local authorities, academy trusts, ITE providers and others to build connections between members and regions this year. Our regional PSHE seminars — in Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Bristol, Kent, London and Norwich — were a great success and we look forward to continuing the conversation around how we can best support and raise the profile of PSHE in your region. Our free network meetings for ITT providers were also well attended by colleagues from around the country.
PSHE education doesn’t stand still and neither do we.
We’ve added more Subject Specialists and membership support to our team to enhance your experience of membership. And we’ll continue to build the status and profile of PSHE education through making the case via the upcoming review of statutory RSHE guidance (more on that this autumn term) and other opportunities.
We’ll be working hard over the summer making improvements to our website search and homepage alongside refreshed branding. Of course, you can still reach the office team during the holidays for help and support from our friendly team.
