Marilyn Holness, OBE

Marilyn is Professor of Professional Practice and Pedagogy in Education and the Director of Student Engagement at the University of Roehampton. In 2009 she was awarded an Order of British Empire (OBE) for Services to Teacher Education.

Marilyn has extensive experience working across secondary schools in London and the South East and in Higher Education — in teaching, initial teacher education, student experience, consultancy and leadership and management. She has coordinated and taught PSHE in schools, and, in partnership with Babcock, facilitated the accreditation of the National PSHE CPD Certificate. She led and taught the National PSHE Postgraduate Certificate whilst undertaking professional practice research in the field. Marilyn managed the strategic development of the FSA Higher Education strand of the national financial capability strategy, commonly known as the “Money Doctors” project that impacted 100+ universities. She is a Principal Teaching Fellow of the HEA and she has a voice on several education advisory boards.
