How do you teach about social media and online safety and wellbeing?

Written by PSHE Association | Nov 27, 2025 11:35:55 AM

Teaching about social media and online safety and wellbeing is a vital component of helping children and young people navigate the online world and lead safe, healthy, and empowered lives, now and in the future.

The PSHE Association is committed to helping schools to teach about social media and online safety and wellbeing confidently, safely and effectively. And to help us better understand how we can do this, we’re supporting the Molly Rose Foundation and the University of Bristol to run an anonymous online survey of secondary school staff in England and Wales.

This important research aims to build a better understanding of:

  • What students are taught about social media and online safety and wellbeing, including through PSHE education.
  • Common challenges experienced by schools.
  • How training, guidance, and resources for schools can be improved.

The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete.

The survey closes on Friday 19th December 2025, and participants can enter a prize draw to win one of eight £25 vouchers.

This survey is open to all staff, including pastoral care staff and teachers of other subjects, so please feel free to forward this email to your colleagues.
